Steel corrodes. GRP chalks and delaminates. Lineside enclosures take salt spray, UV, ballast dust and brake dust every day of their life — and every repaint is another visit to the lineside.
The enclosure body carries no current and needs no bonding path through the panel. Beside 25kV overhead line equipment, that removes an entire category of electrical risk rather than mitigating it.
An estimated 270,000 location cabinets sit on the UK rail network, with around 45,000 replaced every year. Each one is a chance to specify a longer-life asset instead of a like-for-like swap.
